Squad Log 14: 9-4-25

ATX flying squad is back in the city!

We took a couple of months resting, recharging and seeing one another on occasion… between family trips, birthdays and summer fun!

Squad is back with a larger group and eager to get out and experience the city together.

We started our fuel flight back by having a  huddle while we waited for folks to arrive.

Everyone introduced themselves and we discussed the commitment we have to ourselves, one another and our community. We shared the need to trust one another, and our senses before getting into planning the day. How some of us were returning and some were new. We talked about the direction we wanted to go and set off with one of our favorite parks as destination #1. We talked so much on our walk - friendships were taking off and old connections were feeling righting at home.

We played and hung out but it got hot REALLY fast! We worked up our appetites and were ready to head to lunch… so we made our way to destination #2 W H A T A B U R G E R! A favorite of our Squad, because we often bring our own food inside, order fries or shakes… or a whole meal. This location is downtown and has a really busy vibe but there's usually plenty of space for us to stay, soak up the air conditioning and forget how hot it is outside!

The squad talked it over while we waited for one of us to grab a quick dip from Sandy’s next door to keep them cool on our walk back across the river.

We decided because it seems summer just isnt ready to go away, that for today we had reached our imit and a teen only lounge in the Library was sounding good! With just a couple hours left for the day, we took the shortest route to get settled and chill.

We checked in with the super cool staff,  played a couple games and added our opinions to some questions that are posted on whiteboards around the lounge like “ what’s your favorite song?”, “ name the best movie ever” etc. but we LOVE the furniture and instruments and other teens we sometimes encounter. We met a public highschooler, in fact! We shared about our lives and helped dispel some of the myths and legends of homeschoolers (and probably reinforced one or two HAHA)

After a while, it was time to wrap up and head to our parting spot and meet parents – so great to be back in the city with the Squad!

If you want to join us, we’d love to have you!

Book a trial day and we will fly around Austin together!
