Squad Log 16: 9-18-25

We set off on foot this week with new friends in the Squad! We wanted to show them some of our favorite spots and get a feel for the area. We also wanted to stay pretty close while we waited for a flyer to join us a little late. We made our way down our favorite 2nd street stroll and into I’m sure you guessed itToy Joy! It’s basically a flying squad ritual at this point >.< Some of our flyers have very specific collectibles that they wait for new “seasonal drops” on. It’s a lot of fun to see the excitement and anticipation, it also prompts a lot of conversation about society, culture, and economics. There’s no shortage of dialogue on the cultural phenomenon of LABUBU haha

We arrived at Fair Ground to skate, sit and get to know some new people and wait for an iced latte from Desnudo. After a while, we were a complete Squad for the day!

It was especially hot, and the shade was slowly drifting from our hang spot — we talked about how to spend the day and where to go and ended up at an indoor spot to hang in the air conditioning, play games and sip on iced cold beverages. Punchbowl Social on Congress is a favorite spot to dip into with youth, and are always so welcoming to us. We ordered our drinks and got a couple lanes to bowl and hang out until we got hungry.

We hit up a few spots nearby for needed food items and sat at some public tables on the street to fuel up for a walk to the Library Teen Lounge, a reliable place to hang out and spend time with friends, tinker around with instruments, doodle, play card games and sit in very comfy chairs!

We spent the last bit of our afternoon cooling down and relaxing before it was time to head to our pickup spot.
